Flight 81 | Jason
I got out of work much later than I wanted to… it was almost 6:00 by the time I hit the door. Sunset is 7:22 pm. It takes about a half hour to get home, and it takes about 15 minutes to get to the field depending on traffic… Shit I’m going to have to hurry!
I got home around 6:20.
I launched at 6:55. I think that must be a new record for me. I was probably on the field for no more than 5 minutes before my feet left the field in flight. I’ve never set up and gotten airborne that fast before. No screwing around! I left everything on the ground… no water, no music, no GPS, no camera…. and OOPS! No cell phone either.
The air was GLASS!!! I flew for 45 minutes and probably spent less than 5 minutes more that 50′ AGL or ATL. I just invented “ATL”, which stands for “Above Tree Level”. I basically skimmed 15′ or less above the ground and trees all night. It was awesome! Not a bump to be found except for my own wake. I saw a few deer. The sunset was b-e-a-utiful. What a great night!
